For most of Retaliate’s history, choosing an iced out G-Shock meant choosing a colourway. Every piece was a Casio DW6900 custom, and the only real question was whether you wanted Aimbot red or Glacier Gray. That’s changed. The range now covers three Casio silhouettes, the G-Shock DW6900, the GA2100 and the DW5600, and each one wears, sits and reads completely differently on the wrist.
If you’re weighing up your first custom G-Shock, here’s how the three compare, and which Retaliate pieces sit in each line right now.
What Stays the Same on Every Model
Before getting into case shapes, it’s worth being clear on what doesn’t change. Every Retaliate build starts with a genuine Casio Gshock, never a replica or generic blank. Every bezel is framed with solid 925 sterling silver, and every one of the VVS1 stones is hand-set individually rather than glued or machine-pressed. That’s what makes each piece a true handset diamond G-Shock custom, whichever model you pick. Every watch is also GRA certified, shipping with its GRA certificate, Casio warranty card, Retaliate certificate of authenticity and branded tin box.
If you’ve been looking for a lab grown diamond G-Shock, it’s worth knowing that Retaliate sets VVS1 moissanite, a lab-created gemstone that passes the diamond tester and has more brilliance. “Diamond G-Shock” gets used across the market as shorthand for the iced out look, but moissanite is its own stone: harder than sapphire, and it throws more fire than diamond. We break that down fully in our guide to which stones are best for bustdown Gshocks.
So the choice below isn’t about quality. It’s about shape, size and the statement you want your custom G-Shock to make.
The G-Shock DW6900: The Loud, Original Flagship
The DW6900 is the watch Retaliate was built on, and it’s still the boldest iced out G-Shock in the range. Its chunky round case, wide flat bezel and three-eye digital display carry decades of skate, studio and hip-hop credibility. That wide bezel also gives the stone-setter the most surface to work with, so a Casio DW6900 custom carries the most visual ice of any model we make. It’s also the most proven build in the range, with more than a dozen colourways released since launch, which makes it the safest choice for a first G-Shock mod.
Choose the DW6900 if: you want maximum presence, you’ve got a medium-to-large wrist, and you want your watch noticed from across the room.
Current DW6900 pieces:
- AIMBOT brings red resin and a chrome red face.
- GRINCH pairs black resin with a Grinch Green face.
- BLUE FREEZE keeps things icy in white and blue.
- ORIGAMI adds bold black geometric graphics over white.
Fan favourites like GRAPE SODA and MICHAEL JACKSON are currently sold out, so if one of those is your colourway, keep an eye out for the next build.
The GA2100: The Slim, Octagonal Luxury G-Shock
Known as the “CasiOak”, the GA2100 swaps the DW6900’s bulk for a slim octagonal case and an analogue-digital face with hands and hour markers. It’s the most refined luxury G-Shock silhouette in the range, closer in shape to a traditional luxury sports watch, and the lowest-profile build Retaliate makes. On every Retaliate GA2100, the octagonal case is fully iced from bezel to lugs, which demands trickier stone-setting geometry and rewards you with a sharper, more architectural sparkle.
Choose the GA2100 if: you want a watch that slides under a shirt cuff, you prefer analogue hands, or your style leans quiet luxury rather than all-out flex.
Current GA2100 pieces:
- KATANA keeps it sharp with a silver-toned dial and dark grey band.
- BABY BLUE offers soft pastel resin.
- CAMO brings a camouflage band for a more tactical streetwear luxury watch.
BLUE’S CLUES and FIRE have already sold out.
The DW5600: The Original Square, Iced Out
The DW5600 carries the square silhouette that traces straight back to the very first G-Shock in 1983. It’s more compact and more angular than the DW6900, fully digital, and it’s the purist’s choice: iconic, restrained and instantly recognisable to anyone who knows their Casio history. Like the GA2100, the square case is fully iced from bezel to lugs.
Choose the DW5600 if: you’ve got a smaller wrist, you love heritage design, or you want a G-Shock mod that feels collectable rather than costume.
Current DW5600 pieces: the line runs from all-white PURE ICE and blacked-out MILITANT to bright orange FANTA, all-red CUPID, LIME GREEN, AQUA and the grey, stitched MAPPED.
How to Choose: Wrist, Wardrobe and Wear
Start with your wrist. If you can comfortably wear a chunky sports watch, the DW6900 gives you the most ice per square centimetre. If your wrist sits on the slimmer side, the DW5600’s compact square case or the GA2100’s flat octagon will sit closer and look more proportional.
Then think about your wardrobe. Oversized tees, cargos and hoodies suit the DW6900’s bulk. Tailoring, knitwear and a cleaner fit suit the GA2100. The DW5600 sits comfortably across both.
Finally, think about how hard you’ll wear it. All three keep the shock resistance of the original Gshock, so this is a style decision, not a durability one.
